What is Microban and why is it needed?
Microban is the global leader in built-in antimicrobial protection with high levels of brand awareness from retailers and consumers alike. Exclusively licensed in Australia, Starmaid evenly distributes the Microban agent during the manufacturing process to help prevent bacteria, mold and mildew whilst promoting a more hygienic environment. This built-in protection cannot wash or wear away and lasts for the lifetime of the product.
Are Starmaid Professional products food safe?
All products are food safe thus suitable for food contact applications as approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
What type of plastic does Starmaid use for its Professional products?
All products are made from Polypropylene (PP) and are recyclable. PP provides product strength and durability.
Are Starmaid Professional products airtight and watertight?
Starmaid Professional Round Food Containers are airtight and watertight preventing leakage. For extra protection use plastic cling before resealing lid if applicable.
Is Microwave cooking safe?
Yes, microwave cooking is safe. Microwave ovens use electromagnetic radiation in the form of microwaves, which cause water molecules in the food to vibrate rapidly, creating friction. This friction results in heat and it is this heat that cooks through the food. Once the power inside the microwave is turned off (which occurs once the cooking time has ended or you press cancel or stop on your microwave) the microwaves no longer exist. The microwaves do not remain in the food nor do they make the food or the microwave oven radioactive. Therefore, cooking food in the microwave does not present any radiation hazard. Can Starmaid Professional products be used on a stove top or oven?
Starmaid Professional products are not stove top or oven safe, however all products have a temperature range capacity between -60 degrees Celsius to 110 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for industrial freezer and boiling water use.
Do Starmaid Professional products contain BPA?
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an “industrial chemical used as the starting material for the production of polycarbonate plastics and synthetic resins” (Food Standards Australia and New Zealand, 2008). Starmaid Professional does not use these materials in the manufacturing of any of their products. All Starmaid Professional products are Cadmium, Lead, and BPA free.
